The agreement on supply of uranium for 2014-2015 and further till 2021 was signed and its cost is estimated at US$800 million at current prices, the source said without clarifying the actual supply volume.
The source said that China’s CGNPC and Uzbekistan’s Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Combine (NGMK) signed the contract on supply of uranium.
Earlier, customs department of China reported that Uzbekistan became the second largest exporter of uranium to China, after Kazakhstan. In 2013, Uzbekistan increased supply of uranium by 1.9 times to 1,663 tonnes.
