CERR entered the TOP 10 best think tanks in Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) –– The University of Pennsylvania has presented the Global Go To Think Tank Index Report 2019, a ranking of leading think tanks.

In the ranking of the best think tanks in Central Asia, the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan took 10th place among the 63 best research and analytical institutions of Central Asia. Thus, the CERR rose one line compared to the previous year, and improved the performance of 2016 by three positions (then the Center took 13th place).

In the ranking of 2020, several more analytical centers from Uzbekistan were included. Among them are the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies (ISMI), which ranked 26th in the report and the Tahlil Social Research Center - 33.

The authors of the rating considered that 12 brain centers functioned in Uzbekistan. At the same time, the report indicates that in Kazakhstan there are 31 think tanks, in Kyrgyzstan - 28, in Tajikistan - 7, and Turkmenistan was not included in the rating.

The annual ranking of research and analytical centers of the world, Global Go To Think Tank Index Report, has been published since 2008 as part of the Expert Analytical Centers and Civil Society program. The report contributes to the creation of regional and global networks of political institutions and communities that will increase the effectiveness of political efforts in various areas of public life, and also serves to strengthen democratic institutions and civil society around the world.

The Center for Economic Research was transformed into the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) in October last year on the twentieth anniversary of its foundation. At the same time, new goals and objectives were approved, among which the carrying out of analytical and applied research in order to develop deeply developed, taking into account successfully tested practices in developed foreign countries, proposals on strategic areas for deepening socio-economic reforms, including improving economic management , finance, business and social sphere.
