Central Bank of Uzbekistan Revokes License of Yangi Bank
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — By a decision of the Board of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 15 January 2026, the license of Yangi Bank Joint Stock Company to conduct banking activities has been revoked, the regulator’s press service reports.
The license revocation follows the bank’s failure to adequately address identified deficiencies. As of 1 January 2026, Yangi Bank’s charter capital stood at 355 billion soums, below the minimum legally required level of 500 billion soums.
The Central Bank had repeatedly issued written warnings to the bank’s supervisory board and management regarding the need to restore the charter capital to the required minimum.
Nevertheless, the bank failed to take sufficient measures to remedy the violation.
Additionally, the bank did not comply with certain provisions of the Law “On Banks and Banking Activity.”
In accordance with the laws “On the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” “On Banks and Banking Activity,” and “On Sanitation and Liquidation of Banks,” Yangi Bank’s operations will be terminated following established procedures, and a liquidation commission has been appointed to manage the process. The Central Bank will oversee the liquidation and provide regular updates to the public.
Preliminary calculations indicate that out of 32,526 depositors, 32,153 will receive guaranteed deposits in full. The remaining 373 depositors will have their funds returned in accordance with the decisions of the liquidation commission and applicable legislation.
The Central Bank noted that the Deposit Insurance Agency will publish detailed calculations and payment procedures. It emphasized that citizens’ deposits are guaranteed by the state. For information on compensation procedures, depositors may contact the agency’s dedicated phone line: +998 55 550 05 00.
