Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 28 February, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov held a telephone conversation with Afghanistan’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
According to the Uzbek foreign ministry, the discussion was constructive in nature. The two sides exchanged views on the current situation along the Afghan–Pakistani border, emphasizing the need for restraint and the prevention of any further escalation of tensions.
During the conversation, Tashkent and Kabul reaffirmed their shared interest in maintaining regional stability. The ministers stressed the importance of keeping dialogue and political and diplomatic instruments as the primary means for addressing emerging challenges and ensuring security in the region.
