Auditorium for capacity building of interpretation education opens at Uzbek University

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Lee Wookheon, Director of KOICA Uzbekistan Office Im Jeong Hee, Rector of UzSUWL Shukhrat Kayumov and other high level officials attended the ceremony.

Earlier, in June 2015 an opening ceremony of the Center for Computer-Based Testing (CBT) and capacity building of interpretation education was held in the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) within KOICA project “Capacity Building of Interpretation Education at UWED and UzSUWL and improving the Computer Based Test System in UWED”.

Within this project (budget US$1.3 mln), implemented by KOICA since 2012 in UWED and UzSUWL the systematization of the structure and modernization of interpretation education has been carried out. The establishment of the modernized auditorium for capacity building of interpretation education, equipped with latest technologies, serves as basis for high quality interpretation education. Moreover, through invitational trainings in Korea and dispatch of Korean experts to Uzbekistan, we hope to build capacity of local specialists in interpretation education, as well as to strengthen the sustainability of project’s achievements.

In his congratulatory speech Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Lee Wookheon stated - «In the era of globalization the ability to compete depends on knowledge of foreign languages, and through establishment of the audience for capacity building of interpretation education, I wish that the future young professionals have a better environment for obtaining their education».
