Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 January, experts from ARUP and the World Bank, together with the heads of departments and services of the khokimiyat of the city of Tashkent, heads of the Tashkent city administration of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Toshkent Shahar Suv Taminoti (Suvsoz), Gas Supply Department of Tashkent City, Toshissikkuvati held a ZOOM seminar on sustainable city management.
The seminar is the third step in developing a sustainable development program for Tashkent. The first step was a training workshop in February last year, the second was diagnosing sustainable development. The fourth step should be an investment plan developed from the previous three steps.
In an interactive form, the workshop participants assessed the likelihood of various threats and the expected damage from them, and also developed a scheme for the destruction of infrastructure in the event of various shocks. In addition, ARUP experts have developed an electronic map of Tashkent with areas of possible flooding both from heavy rains and from the breakthrough of dams and dams of city canals.
The seminar participants noted the benefits of gaining knowledge on sustainable development and possible risks for city management.
