An online conference was held with the Japan Business Federation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 March 2021, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov took part in a video conference with the Japanese Federation of Business (Keidanren).

The conference, which was attended by about 300 leaders and representatives of leading Japanese companies, was a continuation of the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of the government delegation of Uzbekistan to Japan in December, and is aimed at broad coverage of the favorable conditions created in Uzbekistan for doing business and attracting foreign investment.

During the event, the Japanese side was headed by F. Kokubu, Chairman of the Japan-CIS Business Cooperation Committee of the Federation. The business conference was also attended by the heads of 25 leading organizations-members of Keidanren, such as Itochu Corporation, Japan Tabako, Japan Foreign Trade Organization (JETRO), Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Marubeni Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsubishi Electric, Nippon Express, Mitsui & Co., Panasonic Corporation, Shimizu Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, Toyota Tsuse Corporation, Yokogawa Electric and other companies.

Within the framework of the conference, the Uzbek side comprehensively highlighted the current state and prospects for the development of political-diplomatic and trade-economic Uzbek-Japanese relations, and also expressed a commitment to further systematic support of Japanese business in the Uzbek market.

F. Kokubu noted a positive trend in the development of trade, economic, financial, technical and investment partnership between the two countries, which is facilitated by effective bilateral cooperation through relevant ministries and departments, aimed at consistent implementation of the agreements reached following the visit to Japan at the highest level in December 2019.

During the business conference, held in the format of an open dialogue, representatives of Japanese business had the opportunity to discuss the prospects for participation in the implementation of new joint investment projects in Uzbekistan and discuss the most promising areas for further partnership, which was another confirmation of the growing interest of the Japanese business community in the Uzbek market.

Also, a question and answer session was held, within which Japanese businessmen and entrepreneurs received comprehensive information on issues of interest.

As a result of the event, an agreement was reached on organizing a visit to Uzbekistan of a Keidanren delegation headed by the Chairman of the Japan-CIS Business Cooperation Committee F. Kokubu, as well as holding an Uzbek-Japanese business forum in Tashkent.
