Ambassador of Uzbekistan visits the main enterprise of the Latvian city of Valmiera

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Ambassador of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov, as part of a trip to the historical region of Latvia Vidzeme, visited the headquarters and facilities of the largest fiberglass plant Valmiera Stikla Skiedra, part of the Valmiera Glass Group, located in the city of Valmiera, Dunyo news agency reported.

During a meeting with a member of the board of the Valmiera Glass Group Girts Veveris, the prospects for establishing mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan were discussed.

As noted in the negotiations, thanks to the successful work of such companies as Valmiera Stikla Skiedra, Valmiera is rightfully considered the most industrialized city in Latvia with an industry share in the regional gross product of about 47 percent, significantly ahead of all other Latvian cities, including Riga.

Valmiera Stikla Skiedra is a city-forming enterprise, the largest employer in the region. Valmiera Glass UK Ltd. operates in the UK.

The company produces fiberglass used in the manufacture of high-strength heat-resistant, heat and noise-absorbing products that are resistant to high pressure. Such a high-tech product is in great demand in the aerospace, engineering, construction and other industries.

According to Girts Veveris, 95 percent of the manufactured products are exported; its geography includes more than 30 countries in Europe, America, Asia, and the Middle East. The largest buyers are the European transnational aerospace corporation AIRBUS, the South Korean LOTTE CORPORATION, and a number of leading European car manufacturers. The Lotte World Tower, the tallest building in South Korea (5th in the world), uses fully fiberglass from Valmiera Glass to build.

During the exchange of views, Girts Veveris expressed readiness, together with the Uzbek side, to study promising areas of trade and technological cooperation between Valmiera Stikla Skiedra and Uzbekistan. An agreement was reached to continue working contacts for a substantive discussion of practical issues of interaction.
