Alan Duncan starts his visit to Uzbekistan
According to the British Embassy in Tashkent, Duncan will be the first foreign dignitary to visit Uzbekistan since the inauguration of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During his visit Sir Alan Duncan will be welcomed by President Mirziyoyev, Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, Minister for Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Elyor Ganiev and Senate Deputy Chairman Sodiq Safoev.
“I am delighted to be visiting Uzbekistan and congratulate President Mirziyoyev on his election victory. I welcome the reform programme that the President has initiated and I look forward to working with him and his Government to strengthen the relationship that the UK enjoys with Uzbekistan. Our close collaboration on counter-terrorism and defence continues to be vital for regional security,” Sir Alan Duncan said.
“I am confident that we can continue to increase trade with Uzbekistan. The new President’s determination to improve the business climate and expand the role of the private sector will help encourage British businesses to look at this large and growing market,” he added.
