Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan informs that two combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT) of the Turakurgan Thermal Power Plant (TPP) were re-commissioned, which were temporarily stopped from 9 to 11 October 2020 in order to fully prepare for the autumn-winter period.
With the introduction of these two CCGT units, the supply of electricity generated at the Turakurgan TPP was resumed in the previous mode.
It should be noted that these steam-gas installations are among the most energy efficient among those used at thermal power plants in Uzbekistan. Their total capacity of 900 MW allows generating more than 21 million kWh of electricity per day. At the same time, the efficiency of the station is over 57%. This will save about 730 million cubic meters of gas per year.
After the planned preparation of two combined cycle plants of the Turakurgan TPP, this thermal power plant is fully ready for uninterrupted and efficient electricity generation in the autumn-winter period of 2020-2021, including during peak loads and low temperatures.
