Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Acwa Power (Saudi Arabia) has so far installed 10 meteorological masts out of 18 planned for the study of wind potential in the Peshkui and Gijduvan districts of Bukhara region, where this company will build wind power plants (WPP) with a total with a capacity of 1000 MW.
The study of wind potential started in August 2020 and will continue for 12 months.
Special sensors are installed at an altitude of 100 meters in order to measure data such as wind speed, direction and duration, as well as changing weather conditions. Highly qualified domestic and foreign specialists are involved in this work.
The project using a renewable energy source (wind) will be built 100% by attracting direct investment, its total cost is US$1 billion.
On 4 May 2020, at a meeting chaired by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on improving the energy efficiency of the fuel and energy complex, it was instructed to start a project for the construction of a wind farm on a public-private partnership basis in conjunction with ACWA Power.
