About 306,200 marriages registered in Uzbekistan in 2017
The largest number of marriages was registered in Samarkand (38,308 marriages or 12.5% of the total number), Ferghana (33,922 or 11%) and Kashkadarya (31,767 or 10.4%) regions.
The Ministry of Justice said that medical examination of people, planning to marry, revealed 115 cases of AIDS in Tashkent city (22%), 69 cases in Andijan and Tashkent regions each (13.2%) and 68 cases in Samarkand region (68%).
The number of divorces in 2017 increased by 8.1% compared to 2016 and reached 31,930.
At the same time, the divorce of spouses through registry offices increased by 1.9% and by a court decision - by 6.2%.
About 58% or 18,875 divorces fell on couples, who have lived in marriage for 1 year to 8 years, of which 16.2% or 5174 divorces - from 2 to 3 years, as well as 17.3% and 5,542 divorces - from 4 to 5 years.
The Ministry of Justice added that the marriage of 23 couples, who have lived in marriage for 50 years, were terminated.
