Abdulla Aripov: Uzbekistan entered the stage of digital transformation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan entered a stage of digital transformation. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov at the forum “Digital Agenda in the Epoch of Globalization” in Almaty (Kazakhstan).

The head of the government of Uzbekistan noted that Uzbekistan has adopted a three-year strategy for development of e-government.

According to him, the country is implementing a number of projects to introduce "smart" and "safe" cities and regions based on processing of big data and introduction of the Internet of things, as well as intelligent surveillance and monitoring systems in public places.

Aripov added that Uzbekistan intends to increase the export of software products 10-fold within five years and to increase the share of the ICT sector in GDP to 4%.

The Prime Minister said that the country began to develop a state program for development of information technologies and communications for the long term

Speaking about the forthcoming tasks, Abdulla Aripov noted the need to work out proposals for improving the human capital development system, including education and training, stimulating youth’s interest in natural sciences, creating an ecosystem favorable to the development of digital skills of the population

The head of the government of Uzbekistan added that the countries participating in the forum should create a joint platform for an integration partnership between traditional financial institutions and innovative companies in the sphere of financial technologies.

He noted that the forum countries need to work out solutions for using such technologies as block, open banking and other.

Uzbekistan is ready for cooperation to develop joint measures to counter threats to information security, Aripov said.

The Prime Minister said that Uzbekistan intends to launch business acceleration programs to stimulate entrepreneurs and create coworking centers in all regions in 2018.

Abdulla Aripov proposed to create a long-term program to support innovative projects in the field of digital economy. According to him, within the framework of the program it is necessary to create joint venture funds and business incubators.

It should be recalled that the forum is attended by delegations from Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan.
