Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 March 2021, a seminar was held in Tashkent on the implementation of a new project that will assist women beekeepers in adapting and managing an application for beekeeping in Uzbekistan.
This app will support the management of beehives and the health of honeybees by tracking and solving practical beekeeping-related tasks in line with the goals set by the beekeepers. Thus, the project will contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and improve the living conditions of women.
The application will be developed jointly with a group of beekeepers from Tashkent and Bukhara regions and after its development it will be available free of charge for all beekeepers who want to use it. The app works by collecting and processing data from beekeepers’ own records, live data from communities and data on local climatic conditions.
With financial support from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the AI-Driven Climate-Optimized Beekeeping for Women in Uzbekistan (UIIKOP) project will be implemented by the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) in cooperation with HiveTracks and the Uzbekistan Beekeepers Association.
