Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 22 November, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade held a meeting with the governor of Lombardy region (Italy) Attilio Fontana, during which the parties discussed prospects for strengthening investment and trade and economic ties in the context of developing multifaceted cooperation between Italy and Uzbekistan.
Favorable prerequisites were noted for expanding the investment portfolio of Italian entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan by covering new areas: agriculture, the automotive industry, fruit and vegetable processing, the oil and gas sector, the textile, leather and shoe and chemical industries, as well as the production of building materials.
In addition, during the dialogue, the parties agreed to join forces to create additional favorable conditions for mutual access of products of national producers to the markets of both countries, including pharmaceutical, agricultural, textile and silk industries, as well as strengthening interagency cooperation on the introduction of a simplified procedure customs, phytosanitary and quarantine control.
Separately, the prospect of opening an Uzbek trading house with a permanent showroom in Milan was considered to establish sustainable deliveries to the Italian market of demanded fruit and vegetable, textile, electrical and chemical products.
Support to the Italian side, as one of the founding countries of the European Union, in the matter of speedy application of the GSP + preferential tariff system in relation to Uzbekistan, as well as the provision of consultative and technical assistance in certification, standardization, labeling, and passage, will also help increase mutual trade. sanitary quarantine procedures for the import of our products.
As a result of the meeting, agreements were reached on enhancing interaction for the implementation of practical actions in the framework of the identified areas for further cooperation.
