Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 November 2020, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in Construction Activities was held in Tashkent in the video conference format.

The event was attended by representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee

The Minister of Construction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Batir Zakirov addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. and Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation, Volkov D.A., who noted the supporting role of the construction industry in stabilizing the economic situation at the present stage.

During the meeting, topical issues of economic, scientific and technical cooperation of the CIS member states in construction activities were considered.

The members of the Intergovernmental Council discussed the tasks assigned to them in the upcoming 2021 Year of Architecture and Urban Development in the CIS. In order to effectively address them, the Commission for Cooperation between the Intergovernmental Council and the Union of Public Associations “International Association of Unions of Architects” was created.

In the course of the reports they heard and the exchange of views, the speakers paid special attention to the activities of the construction industry in the context of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection pandemic and the fight against its negative consequences.

The participants in the meeting of the Intergovernmental Council were informed about the upcoming events in 2021 dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
