Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A resolution of the President “On measures for the further development of rice cultivation” was adopted.
In accordance with the resolution, elite seed farms are formed on the basis of rice clusters or rice farms in areas where rice cultivation is allowed.
Proceeding from this, a total of 22 districts in the republic will be specialized in the cultivation of reproductive rice seeds, 17,452 hectares of rice fields will be created in them.
Starting from 1 June 2021, it is allowed to issue a certificate of conformity for seed rice also by legal entities that have passed accreditation in the prescribed manner.
In addition, a system of crop rotation will be established in Seed Farms. At the same time, a scientifically grounded crop rotation system will be introduced to prevent rice cultivation for more than two years in the same field.
In 2021, it is envisaged to plant rice using a seedling method at a minimum of 20 percent, the introduction of a land leveling system using laser equipment - at least 50 percent, and rice sowing using modern seed drills - at least 30 percent of rice areas.
Until 31 December 2021, up to 20 percent of the cost of modern seed drills and equipment for seedling sowing purchased by agricultural producers for growing rice will be reimbursed from the State budget.
The resolution also approved the forecast indicators of rice cultivation for the harvest of 2021 in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and regions. According to this, rice cultivation on 129,357 hectares is planned in the republic this year.
In addition, measures will be taken to create at the Tashkent State Agrarian University of Nukus a branch - in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, a joint faculty in the direction of rice growing - in conjunction with the Vietnam Agrarian University.
