2018 Fellowship Program Alumni Meeting hosted by KOICA

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On November 9, 2018, KOICA Uzbekistan Office hosted the annual fellowship program alumni meeting at City Palace Hotel, in Tashkent. Around 120 individuals participated in the ceremony, including the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Kwon Yong Woo, Minister of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kudbiev Sh.D., Deputy Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mamutov R.A., Director General of “Uzstandart” Agency Sattarov D.N. and other high level officials and graduates of KOICA training programs.

Ambassador Kwon Yong Woo emphasized the importance of cooperation between Korea and Uzbekistan, and mentioned that the KOICA training program alumni play a vital role in enhancing and strengthening the relations of both parties. Ambassador Kwon encouraged the participated alumni by thanking them in showing love and passion towards Korea. He noted that the relations of both countries developed rapidly over the short course of 26 years of diplomatic relationship due to the active performances of the KOICA alumni. Ambassador Kwon also added that the main reason for KOICA Uzbekistan Office conducting more than 30 grant aid projects in Uzbekistan, since its establishment in 1995, is to lay a foundation as well as broaden bilateral friendly cooperative relations.

Minister of Employment and Labor Relations Kudbiev Sh. in his congratulatory speech noted that the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties is one of the most important areas of cooperation, which continues to develop effectively in the fields of education, science, sports, culture, medicine and tourism. The exchange of students, teachers and specialists is becoming more active.

The main link, if it is possible to say, a reliable bridge in the implementation of these ties, is undoubtedly the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

Addressing the Korean partners, Mr. Kudbiev stated: “We highly value our cooperation and are ready to build up collaboration. We will support your initiatives that provide the necessary conditions for the dynamic and comprehensive development of our countries. ”

At this event, the introduction of KOICA’s post-training management system and its successful implementation examples were discussed in order to continuously improve the results of the overall training. In addition, participated alumni had a good recollecting time while watching traditional Korean dances and Uzbek students’ K-POP dance performances. KOICA Uzbekistan Office will continue to strive to hold events alike the annual meeting, in order to improve the results of its training programs and to strengthen the relations between Korea and Uzbekistan.
