Uzbek cultural centre set up in Russia’s Chuvashia

"The centre of Uzbek culture in the Chuvash Republic" public organization has been set up in Chuvashia [of Russia], a correspondent of the Regnum news agency has learnt at the Chuvash Ministry of Culture.

The results of a population census held in Russia in 2002 showed that there were 356 ethnic Uzbek residents in Chuvashia.

The purpose of the public organization is to preserve the origins of Uzbek culture, traditions and promote the development of cultural relations between the Chuvash Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
