Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Zayed Sustainability Prize, an innovative global award from the UAE for achievements in the field of sustainable development, opens the call for applications for the prize.
Applicants can apply on the online portal from 18 January to 2 May 2023. The Zayed Sustainability Prize 2024 will take place as part of the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai. The prize money for the award, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, reaches US$600,000 per category.
The Zayed Sustainability Prize was established in 2008 to support sustainable development and humanitarian initiatives around the world. The award recognizes and rewards small and medium enterprises, non-profit organizations, educational institutions that offer innovative and inspiring solutions in the Healthcare, Food, Energy, Water and International Schools categories.
In the first four categories, the winner receives US$600,000; in the International Schools category, each of the six winners representing six regions is awarded a US$100,000 prize.
For the Healthcare, Food, Energy and Water categories, applicants must demonstrate that their activities help make critical products and services more accessible, as well as their long-term vision to improve living and working conditions. Applications in the category "International Schools" must confirm the active involvement of pupils and students in the development of projects at all stages.
The Zayed Sustainability Prize includes three stages of evaluation. After selecting those projects that strictly meet the specified criteria, they are analyzed by a committee consisting of groups of independent international experts. Then, based on the shortlist, an expert jury determines the winners in all five categories.
To date, over 100 recipients of the Zayed Sustainability Prize have made a positive impact on the lives of millions of people around the world.
