Zakharova: Solovyov’s Remarks Do Not Reflect Moscow’s Official Position
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on statements made by Russian television host Vladimir Solovyov regarding Central Asian countries and Armenia, emphasizing that they represent solely the personal opinion of the journalist, expressed on the private channel “Solovyov Live.”
She also noted that the statements were posed in the form of questions rather than assertions and therefore cannot be regarded as the official position of the Russian state.
According to Zakharova, certain phrases by the host were presented by “armchair analysts” in an overtly provocative manner, almost as if reflecting Russia’s official line. “I want to emphasize once again that the official position is expressed exclusively by authorized officials,” she said.
The spokesperson reminded that Russia has historically maintained relations of good neighborliness, strategic partnership, and fraternal friendship with the countries of the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
“Assessment should be based on deeds — on how many times we have come to help, shown genuine concern, shared in sorrow and joy alike,” Maria Zakharova stressed.
