Youth Department of the World Food Forum Established in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the headquarters of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, the World Food Forum (WFF) officially announced the establishment of the WFF Uzbekistan National Youth Chapter.

Certificates marking the launch of the new chapter were presented to participants in honor of the occasion.

The WFF Uzbekistan National Youth Chapter will serve as a new platform for developing youth leadership in food security, sustainable agriculture, and climate initiatives. It is the first national youth chapter of the WFF not only in Uzbekistan but across the entire Central Asian region.

The initiative to create the chapter was proposed by Shovkat Kholdorov and a group of active young leaders working in Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector, in coordination with the FAO Representation in Uzbekistan and with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant organizations.

The primary goal of the chapter is to strengthen the role and voice of young people in shaping sustainable food systems, engage the next generation in the agricultural sector, and foster innovative, environmentally friendly, and socially responsible solutions for the future of agriculture.

“Agriculture of the future is built together with youth. The World Food Forum platform provides our young professionals with the opportunity to turn ideas into practice—from new technologies and sustainable farming to projects that transform lives in local communities. Supporting the WFF Uzbekistan Youth Chapter is an investment in the skills and leadership of the next generation,” said Sherzod Umarov, Deputy Representative of FAO in Uzbekistan.

Through its activities, young participants will develop and promote initiatives in areas such as climate change mitigation, efficient water resource management, land degradation prevention, soil fertility enhancement, and food security strengthening.

One of the chapter’s key priorities will be fostering international cooperation and ensuring active participation of Uzbekistan’s youth in global World Food Forum dialogues aimed at building a more sustainable and equitable food future.
