Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Institute for Legislative Problems and Parliamentary Research under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the representative office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Uzbekistan, held an international conference "Youth and Elections: Topical Issues of Increasing Electoral Culture".
It was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, deputies of the Legislative Chamber, representatives of the Central Election Commission, the Institute of Legislation and Parliamentary Studies, the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences, the National Center for Human Rights, the Agency for Youth Affairs, professors and teachers of universities, members of the Youth of parliaments and the Club of Young Lawyers.
In addition, officials of the representative offices of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Turkish Agency for the Coordination of International Cooperation in Uzbekistan, the Research Department of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, the Institute of Parliamentarism of the Department of Logistics of the Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the embassies of the Republic of Turkey and the Federal Republic of Germany in Uzbekistan and foreign experts as well as media professionals.
This event stipulates a discussion of topical issues of improving the electoral culture of youth in Uzbekistan and the prospects for using modern tools and forms of electoral culture, as well as studying the positive aspects of foreign experience in this direction.
It was emphasized that the election of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan is an important political event, it is necessary to comprehensively prepare and conduct them openly and publicly. It is noteworthy that for the first-time presidential elections are held on the basis of the Electoral Code. Explaining among young people the essence and significance of the latest changes and additions made to it is important.
The stages of development of the national electoral legislation of Uzbekistan on the basis of modern requirements and its features, the introduction of international electoral standards to ensure human rights and interests in the electoral process are also explained.
In addition, it was noted that for the effective use of modern methods and forms of propaganda in raising the electoral culture of the population, especially to ensure the active participation of young people in this process, it is necessary to take practical measures.
It was also reported that in order to ensure the participation of young people in this important political event this year, the Agency for Youth Affairs plans to conduct large-scale campaign work and various actions, presentation of joint projects with the Institute for Legislative Problems to improve the ectoral culture of youth.
During the conference, domestic and foreign speakers focused on the issue of increasing the political and legal literacy of youth.
