World Bank: Improving Early Childhood Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Preschool Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as part of the implementation of the World Bank project "Improving the early development of young children" from 12 to 16 April 2021, with the participation of the international consultant candidate of psychological sciences Zulfiya Veisova (Azerbaijan) conducted trainings “Introducing a child-centered approach to learning in preschool education in Uzbekistan.”

The purpose of these trainings was to familiarize with scientifically grounded directions and the introduction of a child-centered approach to teaching, in line with international best practices, as well as the methodology of active and interactive learning, the preparation of national master trainers in order to introduce this approach into the educational process of preschool educational organizations.

The training was conducted for specialists of the preschool education system in Tashkent, in particular, methodologists of district departments of preschool education and preschool education, teachers of the Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of Directors and Specialists of Preschool Educational Organizations, Tashkent Pedagogical College. This training was attended by 30 pedagogical staff of the preschool education system.

These trainings will be held in stages, the next stage will cover all regions of the republic. The trainings will include an element of peer learning, allowing educators to learn from each other. At all stages of teaching staff, 700 specialists of the republic's preschool education system will be covered.

In the future, national masters trainers will train methodologists of preschool educational organizations and educators directly in the field using a cascade method.

These trainings will improve the professional competence of teachers, the quality of the educational process in preschool educational organizations for the application in the practical activities of educators of various approaches focused on the personality of the child, taking into account their age and abilities, which will contribute to a smooth transition and adaptation to school life.

The World Bank project is designed for the period from 2019 to 2024. The main goals are to ensure access to preschool education services, improve the quality of the learning environment of state preschool educational organizations (material and technical equipment with the necessary furniture, teaching and methodological and didactic materials), develop the necessary mechanisms and tools for the systematic measurement of the quality of education, in order to further high-quality planning educational process, as well as increasing the potential in the training of teaching staff at the level of international standards.
