World Bank Discusses Strengthening Uzbekistan’s Financial Stability

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 24 to 27 March 2026, a World Bank mission led by Valeria Goffe visited the Central Bank of Uzbekistan as part of technical assistance programs on “Uzbekistan’s Financial Security” and banking regulation.

During the visit, representatives of the World Bank held meetings with officials from the Central Bank and the Deposit Insurance Agency. Discussions focused on measures to strengthen the resilience of the country’s banking and financial system and to safeguard depositors’ interests, ensuring the security of citizens’ savings under all conditions.

The mission also addressed preparedness for financial crises and improving crisis management capabilities, including drafting secondary legislation to implement practical bank resolution procedures.

Special attention was given to aligning banking regulation and supervision with international standards and best practices, fostering a modern, transparent, and sustainable banking sector in Uzbekistan.

By the conclusion of the visit, both parties agreed on next steps and the continuation of close cooperation between the World Bank and the Central Bank of Uzbekistan. They reaffirmed their commitment to jointly enhance financial stability, protect depositors, and support sustainable economic growth.
