Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 September, Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Judicial and Legal Affairs and Anti-Corruption Narimon Umarov met with Daniela Felkman, a representative of the World Bank.
During the meeting, issues of strengthening cooperation with the World Bank, as well as practical work on the development of legislation aimed at combating and preventing corruption in our country, as well as preventing corruption factors in bills, were discussed.
It was noted that in accordance with the Development Strategy until 2026, more than 80 regulatory legal acts have been adopted in our country aimed at suppressing corruption factors in all areas of state and public construction, including more than 10 regulatory legal acts that regulate directly in the field of combating corruption, as well as within the framework of the "Sphere without corruption" projects, "road maps" and programs, a number of positive achievements are observed. Detailed information was given on the activities of the National Council, organized in the upper chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
During the talks, they also spoke about the bills “On the Prevention of Conflicts of Interest” and “On Declaration of Income and Property of Civil Servants”.
It was emphasized that the “Strategy for the Development of New Uzbekistan” adopted this year defines the creation of a country free from corruption, which is a logical continuation of reforms aimed at combating and preventing corruption. This places a huge responsibility on state bodies, in particular parliament, in carrying out work in this direction.
In turn, Daniela Felkman noted that she is well aware of the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, especially the efforts to combat corruption, and highly appreciates them.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on further strengthening cooperation between the Parliament and the World Bank, and the implementation of new projects.
