Woman Accused of Human Trafficking Extradited From Türkiye to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A 34-year-old Uzbek citizen, who had been internationally wanted since 2021 on suspicion of human trafficking, has been extradited from Türkiye to Uzbekistan.

According to law enforcement authorities, the woman deceived young women by promising them high-paying jobs abroad, transported them to Türkiye, confiscated their passports, and forced them into prostitution.

A criminal case has been opened against the detainee under Article 135 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan — “Human Trafficking.”

The arrest was carried out on 18 November in Istanbul through coordinated efforts between the Interpol national bureaus of Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
