Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Law "On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Names of Geographical Objects" was signed by the President of Uzbekistan.

According to the law, geographical objects are allowed to give the names of individuals who have left a deep mark on world history.

At the same time, the assignment of the names of individuals who left a deep mark in the history of Uzbekistan or the world to the constituent parts of settlements is carried out posthumously on the basis of a decision of the President, and, as a rule, in relation to objects that do not have names.

In the process of preparing proposals for the naming of geographical objects and their renaming, the opinion of local residents is taken into account.

To discuss proposals after they are received, the relevant authorities within 5 working days publish them in their official publications, on official websites, as well as in the media.

Also, the discussion of proposals should not last less than 15 days from the date of their publication.
