"Week of Women and Youth" started in Karakalpakstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 June, the "Week of Women and Youth" was launched, organized by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the State Committee for Family and Women Affairs, the State Trust Fund for Support of Women, the People’s bank in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

Within the framework of this event, the experience of the Republic of Karakalpakstan in the field of increasing the socio-political activity of women, the wide involvement of young people and women in entrepreneurship, and ensuring their employment is presented for use in other regions.

On the first day of the week, the Nukus Youth Center hosted an exhibition of handicrafts, a fashion show of the Karakalpak national costume, as well as round tables with representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations.

The event was attended by representatives of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, ministries and departments, khokimiyat, members of the "Club of Women Entrepreneurs", "Leader of Gender Justice", as well as representatives of the media, women and youth of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The organizers and guests who visited the center got acquainted with the exhibition of products of the Karakalpak national craft, and then the demonstrations of the Karakalpak national costumes were presented to the attention of the visitors.

There was also a "round table" with representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations. At the event, the speakers made proposals for solving the problems of women in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, further accelerating their social support. 

Nodira Shotursunova, head of the department of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, made a presentation and made proposals for removing obstacles and problems faced by women in their activities.

In addition, during the round table, the speakers spoke about women’s and youth entrepreneurship in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the benefits provided to them, and the conditions created.

At the end of the event, a presentation was made on the activities of the State Trust Fund to support women and the allocation of grants to representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations.
