Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 December 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia Reinis Trokša.

During the conversation, topical issues of Uzbek-Latvian relations were discussed, including an exchange of views on the practical aspects of the implementation of previously reached agreements.

An important place in the talks was occupied by the issues of intensifying economic diplomacy. The Latvian side confirmed its readiness to participate in joint projects in the field of standardization and certification, which play a very important role in increasing the export of Uzbek products to the EU countries.

The need for the soonest signing of the Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union, initialed on 6 July 2022, was noted.

An agreement was reached to continue close cooperation on the implementation of projects in the field of administrative reform and the fight against corruption with the involvement of European partners and state structures of Uzbekistan.

The parties exchanged views on the schedule of upcoming events in 2023, the expansion of cultural, humanitarian and educational ties.

Certain issues of an international and regional nature were also considered.
