Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 November 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Boumédiène Guennad.

Accepting copies of the Ambassador’s credentials, the Minister congratulated him on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission.

Boumédiène Guennad assured of the commitment of the Algerian side to the comprehensive expansion of ties with Uzbekistan in all directions. A high assessment was given to the modern development of our country and the progress achieved in carrying out systemic socio-political and socio-economic transformations.

During the meeting, proposals were considered to intensify political dialogue, including through the organization of mutual visits, holding consultations, developing inter-parliamentary contacts, and coordinating interaction within international institutions.

An agreement was reached on taking joint measures to realize the existing potential for cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. In particular, an exchange of views took place on the participation of Algerian companies in the implementation of investment projects in Uzbekistan in the automotive and oil and gas industries, ICT, textiles, agriculture, etc. The importance of maintaining direct contacts between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and business entities of the two countries was noted, and also considering the issue of opening trading houses on a reciprocal basis.

The presence of significant opportunities for increasing the tourist flow from Algeria to Uzbekistan, especially to the world-famous historical cities of Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, was emphasized.

A number of issues of international and regional politics were also discussed at the talks.
