Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 16 June 2022, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to our country Sayyid Ali Asad Gillani.
During the meeting, the positive dynamics of the development of the Uzbek-Pakistani strategic partnership relations, which play an important role in strengthening the interconnectedness between Central and South Asia, were noted with satisfaction.
The course of implementation of the agreements reached in the course of contacts at the highest level was considered.
An exchange of views took place on the schedule of upcoming meetings, including the visit of the Foreign Minister of Pakistan to Uzbekistan to participate in the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, held on 28-29 July 2022 in Tashkent.
An agreement was reached to continue coordinating the efforts of Uzbekistan and Pakistan in the international arena, in particular, within the framework of the UN, SCO, OIC and ECO.
Particular attention was paid to the prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation, including within the framework of the signed agreements on transit and preferential trade between the two countries of agreements. The mutual intention of the parties to increase the volume of trade up to US$1 billion was confirmed.
The readiness of the Uzbek and Pakistani sides to expand ties in the field of cultural and humanitarian exchanges was also noted.
