Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 29 July 2022, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who arrived in our country to attend a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The Pakistani delegation noted that the meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers in Tashkent was very successful and at a high organizational level, becoming the final stage in preparation for the main event in the activities of the Organization this year - the SCO Summit in Samarkand. It was reported that the Pakistani side fully supported the initiatives and proposals put forward by the Republic of Uzbekistan as part of its chairmanship in the Organization.
The current state and prospects for the further development of Uzbek-Pakistani relations in various fields are considered. An agreement was reached on taking joint measures to intensify political dialogue, build up trade and economic cooperation and expand cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
In order to develop economic diplomacy, the importance of facilitating trade and customs procedures on a reciprocal basis, resuming air traffic between the two countries, and implementing investment projects in various sectors of the economy was noted.
Proposals for enhancing ties in the field of culture, education and tourism were studied.
Issues of world and regional politics, including the situation in Afghanistan, were discussed. The Pakistani Foreign Minister noted with satisfaction the fruitful results of the recent conference on Afghanistan held in Tashkent, which provided a platform for a constructive international dialogue on the Afghan issue.
