Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 September 2022, in New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, head of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov.

During the conversation, the parties noted with satisfaction that in recent years, cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UN and its structures has risen to a qualitatively new level, enriched with practical content.

The existence of opportunities for further strengthening partnerships in areas of mutual interest, including within the framework of the Joint Action Plan for the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia and the Roadmap for bilateral cooperation, was emphasized.

Vladimir Voronkov highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being carried out in our country, the republic’s active efforts to expand international and regional cooperation. Attention was focused on the successful chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the significant results of the Summit of the Organization held recently in Samarkand.

The successes of Uzbekistan in ensuring peace and stability in the region and the country, countering extremism and terrorism, promoting tolerance, interreligious and intercultural dialogue, implementing an effective youth policy, returning and integrating women and children from conflict zones into society were noted.
