Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 January this year, Director of the International Institute of Central Asia (MICA) Vladimir Norov spoke at the expert meeting "Central Asia - 2030: Images of the Future" in Astana.
In order to further develop and deepen regional cooperation in Central Asia, the participants of the expert meeting proposed to strengthen the interaction of the "Central Asian Five".
According to the director, the active integration of the economies of the Central Asian countries seriously stimulates the development of transport and logistics infrastructure.
At the same time, it was noted that in order to accelerate the passage of goods and passenger flows, it is necessary to transform transport corridors, including a comprehensive plan for the route Central Asia - South Asia: technical expertise of its capabilities, integration of sorting centers, etc.
Vladimir Norov stressed that it is important to combine our efforts to implement promising cross-border projects, including the railway linking China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan, which will significantly increase the transit potential of the region.
The director also focused on the construction of the Turkestan-Tashkent high-speed railway, which will ensure the full use of the Caspian ports of Aktau, Kuryk, Turkmenbashi, and the construction of a network of transport and logistics hubs.
At the same time, the Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway project, initiated by the President of Uzbekistan, is also important, the implementation of which will provide direct, shortest and cost-effective access to the Indian Ocean.”
