Virtual exhibition of Islamic art of Uzbekistan in Malaysia aroused keen public interest

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 31 May 2021, with the assistance of diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur, a virtual exhibition of Islamic art of Uzbekistan "Bukhari: Islamic Art Exhibition" and a webinar were organized in cooperation with the International Research Center of Imam Bukhari (IRISIB), Institute of Islamic Civilization Malaysia (ISCM), creative company "Dacore IT" and the University of Leicester (UK).

The event was attended by Islamic experts from research centers of Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Indonesia, Thailand, Turkey, students and faculty of the National University of Malaysia, Technological University of Malaysia, University of Malaya and others. The total number of participants was over 120 people.

The event was also rebroadcast in real time through the accounts of partner organizations on Facebook with a total audience of about 800 thousand people.

The exhibition featured works of art by Uzbek artists, craftsmen and artists inspired by the hadiths of Imam Bukhari. Among them are the famous miniaturist Davlat Toshev, the experienced artist of oriental book illumination Kamoliddin Abdullaev, young talented artists - the calligrapher Sheikh Abdullayeva, the graphic artist Yokub Beknazarov and the photographer Mukhiddin Ali.

For the Malaysian audience, a special musical composition is presented, created by the collective of the Uzbek Chamber Orchestra of Folk Instruments "Sogdiana" for this exhibition.

During the webinar, the participants were familiarized in detail with the rich cultural and intellectual heritage of Uzbekistan, the great significance of the two periods of the Islamic Renaissance in the history of world civilization.

In his speech, the director of IICM prof. Fariza Sham highly appreciated the comprehensive and systematic approach of the Government of Uzbekistan to the comprehensive study, preservation and enhancement of the rich heritage of Islamic civilization, the development of a culture of tolerance and the popularization of the humanistic and peaceful essence of the religion of Islam.

Fariza Sham noted the significant contribution of scientists and thinkers of the medieval East to the development of theology, science, culture, art, calligraphy and architecture. The attention is focused on the role of the theologian Imam Bukhari and the special significance of his collection of hadiths "Al-Jami al-Sahih" throughout the Muslim world.

Associate Professor of the Institute of Islamic Civilization of Malaysia Rozia Siddiq emphasized the unique approach of the exhibition organizers to promoting the heritage of Imam Bukhari through the prism of the art of miniature, calligraphy, arts and crafts, photography and instrumental music, through acquaintance with the work of famous and young artisans of Uzbekistan, musicians of the Sogdiana chamber orchestra ...

Professor of the University of Malaya Mohd Roslan Mohd Noor expressed the opinion that this online exhibition will contribute to the promotion of the potential of Ziyorat tourism among the general public in Malaysia.

According to him, it is necessary to introduce separate courses in Malaysian specialized universities to study the works of the largest expert on religion Imam Bukhari, since his hadiths are considered the second most important source of Islamic law after the Koran.

The webinar aroused significant interest among the participants, as evidenced by the active involvement of experts in discussions and discussions.

As a result of the event, an agreement was reached to intensify cooperation between MNICIB and IICM in launching joint research projects and popularizing the results of scientific research, exchanging scientific literature, organizing training for scientific personnel and holding joint events. To this end, work on the preparation of a draft Memorandum of Cooperation between institutions will be accelerated.
