Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 August 2022, Viktor Makhmudov, Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Imankulov as part of the 17th meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Issues of ensuring regional security, including in the field of joint counteraction to terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking, and ensuring border security were considered.

The demand for a permanent mechanism of consultations between the apparatuses of the Security Councils of the two countries was especially emphasized in order to effectively coordinate joint efforts in the field of security.

An agreement was reached on further filling the Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation in the field of security with new content and practical results.
