Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President of Uzbekistan signed the Law "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the adoption of additional measures to ensure the guarantees of the rights of women in difficult social situation".
According to the additions made by the Law to the law "On citizens’ self-government bodies":
The gathering of citizens must take part in identifying persons who have been persecuted and subjected to violence against women and children or who are prone to such actions, in the preventive work carried out with these persons;
The chairman of the citizens’ gathering is empowered to determine measures to protect women who have been subjected to persecution and violence, and who have applied for this, to immediately report these facts to the appropriate centers for the rehabilitation and adaptation of women and the internal affairs bodies.
According to the amendments made to the Law "On the Protection of Women from Harassment and Violence", labor authorities will promote employment and vocational guidance for women facing family problems and the use of violence.
Health authorities are taking steps to provide primary health care to victims of harassment and violence and their children, their medical examination, and free treatment for victims of harassment and violence.
This Law shall enter into force on the day of its official publication.
