Veolia Suspends Thermal Network Pressure Tests Following Pipeline Incident Near TashMI

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Veolia Energy Tashkent has announced the suspension of hydraulic pressure tests on the city’s thermal networks following a pipeline rupture that occurred earlier today near the new campus of Tashkent Medical Academy (TashMI). The testing campaign, part of preparations for the 2025–2026 heating season, had been scheduled to run from 30 May to 17 July.

According to the company, specialists are now revising the testing methodology. Alternative and safer diagnostic approaches are being developed to detect potentially hazardous sections of the heating infrastructure without posing risks to the public or urban systems.

“Our top priority is to ensure stable and safe heat supply. We are committed to minimizing all possible risks as we prepare for the upcoming heating season,” Veolia Energy Tashkent stated in an official release.

The timeline for resuming diagnostic and maintenance work on the thermal networks will be announced once a full analysis is completed and new procedures are approved.

Earlier today, a pipeline burst occurred in Tashkent near the new TashMI building. Veolia confirmed that scheduled pressure tests were underway at the site. The preliminary cause of the incident has been identified, though further details have yet to be disclosed.
