Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Following a visit by a delegation of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan in September 2019, the country's leading companies “Itochu Corporation” and “Marubeni Corporation” showed interest in the joint implementation of the project “Modernization of the gas transmission system of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the introduction of a center for dispatching, monitoring and managing gas infrastructure facilities (SCADA).”

During the meeting, Uztransgaz presented the project “Modernization of the gas transmission system of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, which includes two phases of implementation. Japanese companies showed interest in participating in an international tender for the implementation of the first phase of the project financed by ADB and in participating in the second phase with the involvement of Japanese soft financing. In particular, the prospects of joint implementation of the second phase of the project were discussed.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to organize additional meetings in November of this year, between working groups for a detailed discussion of financing and implementation of the second phase of the project with the participation of Japanese companies.
