Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 January this year, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Minister of Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Chairman of the Board of Uzsuvtaminot Sahib Saifnazarov and Vice President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Konstantin Limitovsky.
At the beginning of the conversation, Sahib Saifnazarov, noting the development of cooperation with the AIIB, told the guests about the current state of the projects implemented jointly with the bank in the field of water supply.
In particular, today, with the participation of the AIIB, a project is being implemented to develop and modernize the water supply and sewerage system in the Bukhara region. The total cost of this project is US$437.6 million, of which US$385.1 million is AIIB funds.
The project envisages the construction and reconstruction of 2192.7 km of water supply networks, 1 water intake facility, 43 water distribution facilities, 3 water towers, 613.3 km of sewer networks, 6 sewage treatment facilities, 67 sewage pumping stations.
Thanks to the full implementation of the project, more than 1 million 140 thousand residents of Bukhara region will have access to centralized drinking water supply, and 165 thousand residents will be covered by sewage services.
In addition, work is currently underway to implement 3 more promising projects with the participation of the AIIB for a total of US$824.2 million.

"Improvement and modernization of the drinking water supply and sewerage system in the Republic of Karakalpakstan";
"Improvement and modernization of the drinking water supply and sewerage system in the Khorezm region";
"Development and modernization of the drinking water supply and sewerage system in the Bukhara region (2nd phase)".
At the end of the meeting, the parties noted that this meeting will further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
