UZSE’s turnover makes up 170.6bn soums in 2012

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Trade turnover of Uzbekistan Stock Exchange “Tashkent” (UZSE) made up 170.6 billion soums in 2012, the UZSE said in its report.

Within 2012, the UZSE registered 917 deals with 227,993 million shares of 129 issuers for 110.5 billion soums and 80,500 bonds of four issuers worth 60.1 billion soums.

UZSE noted that the secondary markets share in total turnover made up 50.9% or 86.8 billion soums in the reporting period.

At the same time, turnover of the secondary market shrank 1.3 times compared to 2011, when its share in total turnover was 53% or 112.9 billion soums. UzSE said that one of reasons for decrease is deficit of liquid and attractive offers.

The share of IPO market in total turnover of UZSE made up 49.1% in 2012 or 83.9 billion soums in 2012, which fell 1.2 times compared to 2011 (100.2 billion soums).

According to UZSE, the volume of deals in additional shares placement platform made up 59.3 billion soums in 2012 (59 billion soums in 2011), and corporate bonds placement platform – 24.6 billion (34.4 billion in 2011).

The volume of the secondary market reached 51.2 billion soums in 2012 compared to 77.3 billion soums in 2011 and secondary corporate bonds market – 35.5 billion soums (35.7 billion soums in 2011).

Largest volume of deals was recorded with shares of financial institutions. Some 55.9% of deals or 95.4 billion soums fell to their share, including 51.6% or 88.1 billion soums – to shares of banks, 2.1% or 3.6 billion soums – to insurance companies and 2.2% or 3.7 billion soums to leasing companies. Last year, share of financial sector was 67.7% in total volume or 144.6 billion soums.

Share of industrial sector made up 29.3% or 49.9 billion soums (21.6% or 49 billion soums in 2011), agri-industrial complex – 4.2% or 7.1 billion soums (2% or 4.2 billion soums) and construction industry enterprises – 2.1% or 3.5 billion soums (1.04% or 2.2 billion soums).
