UzLiDeP: Collecting voters’ signatures - important process

Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen – Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan attaches great importance to the pre-election activities. In particular, in accordance with the decision adopted at the V meeting of the Political Council, the candidacy of the member of the Political Council of UzLiDeP Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been approved for consideration by the next Congress party as a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It is known that UzLiDeP, along with other political parties of our country in accordance with the electoral law, as well as on the basis of the submitted documents received approval to participate in the presidential election.

— Currently at each territorial party organization formed working groups that are responsible for the collection of signatures in support of the nominee for President of Uzbekistan, — said Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Political Council of UzLiDeP B.Yakubov. — In accordance with the law «On elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan », signature sheets submitted to the Central Election Commission (CEC) by a political party shall contain the signatures of at least one per cent of the total number of voters of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representing not less than 8 administrative-territorial formations. At the same time, number of signatures from one administrative-territorial formation cannot exceed 8% from total signatures. The parties should collect 214,350 signatures of voters. We have put forward a proposal to collect 300,000 signatures of the voters.

After collecting voters’ signatures, special working group of the Executive Committee of the Political Council will check them and submit to the CEC.

The Central Election Commission within seven days will check and give an opinion on the documents submitted under the requirements of the electoral law.

Currently, in all regions of our country the process of collecting voters’ signatures entered into an active phase.

—The collection of signatures is organized in accordance with the requirements. Responsible party employees are explaining to voters the procedure of filling in signature sheets, - said head of UzLiDeP in Samarkand regional Council I. Botirov. – We pay serious attention to the correct filling in signature sheets, for this purpose at the center of political education conducted special training for participants who help to collect signatures.

— These days starts a very important process for us, - says the chairman of Navoi regional Council of UzLiDeP Y. Dushanov. – The electoral process of collecting signatures is an indication of how the candidate has a high reputation among the people. In our region, there are more than 600 thousand voters, most of them - are under 35 years old. In every corner of our region is collecting voters’ signatures. This process demonstrates the activity of our voters and their attitude to the future.
