UzHydromet Issues Urgent Hydrometeorological Warning
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Center of Hydrometeorological Service of Uzbekistan has issued an urgent weather advisory for 16–17 February due to expected precipitation.
According to the service, mudflows and flash floods are possible in foothill and mountainous areas during this period.
Regions at potential risk include:
Qashqadaryo Region: Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shahrisabz, Kamashi, and Guzar districts
Surkhandarya Region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Altynsay, Denau, Baysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan, and Muzrabat districts
Samarkand Region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Koshrabad, Kattakurgan, Payarik, Jomboy, and Ishtikhan districts
Navoiy Region: Khatirchi, Navbahor, Nurata, Kanimekh, and Karmana districts
Jizzakh Region: Zaamin, Bahmal, Gallyaaral, Sharaf Rashidov, Farish, and Yangiyab districts
Tashkent Region: Akhangaran, Bostanlik, Parkent, Pskent, Urtachirchik, Yukorichirchik districts, and the cities of Angren and Almalyk
Namangan Region: Pap, Kosonsoy, Chartak, Chust, Namangan, and Yangikurgan districts
Fergana Region: Sokh, Shahimardan, Fergana, and Besharik districts
Andijan Region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khodjaabad, Markhamat districts, and the city of Khanabad
Residents of foothill and mountainous areas, tourists, and drivers planning trips to mountain zones are advised to exercise heightened caution.
The warning also notes that in some areas, accumulation of rainwater may lead to localized flooding.
