UZEX sells 4.4m tonnes of cement in 2012

The volume of offer of cement grew by 13% year-on-year in 2012, the Uzbekistan Stock Exchange (UZEX) said.
Overall, the exchange said that it realized over 4.4 million tonnes of cement in internal market in 2012, which rose by 600,000 tonnes compared to 2011.
Kyzylkumcement led among cement sellers in 2012 as its share made up 47% in the market. Share of Ahangarancement dropped from 27% to 21%. Bekabadcement increased the volume of offered cement in the market.
UZEX said that some 13 sorts of cement were offered at the exchange in 2012, of which PPC400, PC400 D-20, PC400 KD-20 and others were highly demaded.
The prices for cement grew during construction season. The price of cement was at 235,000-242,000 soums per ton, in August the price for PC400 D20 reached 275,000 tonnes. The price of PPC400 hit 302,000 soums a tonne in September.
In December, the prices started to go down and in December the price for PC400 D20 fell up to 250,000 soums and pozzolana cement – to 212,000 soums per tonne.
