UZEX says 83,000 tonnes of gas realized in 1Q

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Commodity Exchange (UZEX) realized 83,000 tonnes of gas through its electronic trades in the first three months of 2013, which grew by 37% year-on-year, the press service of the UZEX said.

The exchange said that the enterprises also increased offer compared to 2011, when the producers sold 57,000 tonnes of liquefied gas. The offer of gas rose almost twice in 2013 compared to 2010.

The analysis of the exchange quotes for liquefied gas in the first three months of 2013 showed that the market is fully depends on the volume of offer. The price for gas was 1 million soums, when the offer volume was 28,000 tonnes. Once the offer rose by 800 tonnes in February, the price fell to 633,000 soums per tonne. The producers decreased offer by 3,000 tonnes, which resulted in growth of price up to 997,000 soums a tonne.

The main consumers of gas remain gas filling station of Samarkan, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya and Bukhara regions. Their share in the purchased volume through UZEX exceeded 74% from total volume of liquefied gas, sold via the exchange in three months of 2013.

Share of Samarkand region only made up 34%, or one third of offered liquefied gas in the market were purchased by consumers in the region.

Share of Ferghana Valley rose up to 7.3% in the reporting period. The valley purchased 6,000 tonnes of gas, which rose by 1.5 times compared to the figures of 2012.
