RIA Novosti reported that the preliminary feasibility study of the project was determined and the source of financing was determined. The project’s cost increased due to recalculation of technologic part of the system. The primary cost of the project was rated at US$200 million.
The project envisages installation of 1.04 million remote gas accounting meters at low pressure gas supply networks in household sector of Tashkent city and Tashkent region. The project will be implemented within two years. In future, it is planned to introduce the system in other regions of Uzbekistan.
The project will be financed due to loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan for US$100 million and own resources of Uzbekneftegaz.
Currently, Uztransgas, a subsidiary of Uzbekneftegaz, runs 120,000 km of gas distribution network of low and medium pressure, which supplies gas to over 4 million houses and about 80,000 wholesale consumers.
