Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Production indicators of Uz-Cor Gas Chemical JV were discussed under the leadership of the Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz.
During the meeting, measures taken by the joint venture to increase gas production at the Surgil field in order to meet polymer production indicators, as well as the volume of supplies of natural gas raw materials to the plant by JSC Uzbekneftegaz were discussed.
According to the approved project feasibility study, the plant will process 4.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. Of these, 3 billion cubic meters are scheduled to be supplied by a joint venture from the Surgil field, the remaining 1.5 billion cubic meters from JSC Uzbekneftegaz.
In recent years, as a result of a pressure drop, the Surgil field has not produced gas in sufficient volumes (1 billion cubic meters less), so the rest of the required volume is covered by JSC Uzbekneftegaz (additional 800 million cubic meters in 2021).
Currently, the joint venture is developing 3D and hydrodynamic production models with the involvement of the international consulting company Baker Hughes. After creating a field model, geological and technical measures will be developed to increase natural gas production.
It should be noted that Ustyurt is a promising region, and JSC "Uzbekneftegaz" pays great attention to the deep study of the sites and the development of fields. This year, 25 wells will be drilled in the region, 44 wells will be overhauled, 5 technological facilities will be built and geological exploration will be carried out.
During the negotiations, an agreement was reached on the timely payment of gas supplied to the plant to finance the ongoing activities.
The Ustyurt gas chemical complex with a total cost of US$3.9 billion was put into operation at the end of 2015 and has an annual production capacity of 387 thousand tons of polyethylene, 83 thousand tons of polypropylene and 110 thousand tons of pyrolysis distillates and oils.
