Uzbekneftegaz: It is planned to receive a sustainable development rating (ESG)

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, the relevance of environmental protection, the importance of combating climate change is recognized throughout the world, and the demand for investment in the international credit system through obtaining an ESG rating is growing every year.

Sustainable development is usually assessed in three separate categories - environmental, social, governance. These are the so-called ESG criteria.

in Uzbekistan, in order to attract investment in ambitious projects, they are also starting to work in this direction.

Currently, on the initiative of the Chairman of the Board Mehriddin Abdullayev, Uzbekneftegaz JSC has begun work on developing a strategy and obtaining a sustainable development rating (ESG) from international rating agencies in order to strengthen the international credit rating to attract investment by entering IPO on international stock markets.

Under the coordination of the Department of Transformation and Operational Efficiency, together with an external consultant, The Boston Consulting Group, important work was done on the implementation of standards in order to develop a new strategy.

In particular, under the leadership of the head of the ESG Responsibility Center, a Roadmap is being formed for the implementation of ESG standards, the definition of responsible and distribution of responsibilities, the development and approval of goals, the collection and preparation of information, reporting and obtaining an international ESG rating.

In addition, in order to determine the actual state in the field of sustainable development, an analysis of activities, including in the direction of environmental protection, was carried out. Preliminary information on greenhouse gas emissions has been prepared, an inventory of existing sources, a breakdown by types of greenhouse gases, as well as coverage categories 1 and 2, calculations of indirect emissions associated with the use of electricity are being carried out.

Compiled information on other environmental impacts, water consumption and wastewater discharge, waste generation and disposal, as well as the trend of reducing the overall environmental impact due to environmental protection measures and rational use of natural resources. Currently, promising developments are being developed to achieve the goals and objectives of the ESG in the field of ecology.
