Uzbekiston Temir Yullari to Raise Afrosiyob Train Fares by 15% from 1 February

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekiston Temir Yullari (Uzbekistan Railways) has announced an increase in passenger transport tariffs, primarily affecting high-speed Afrosiyob electric trains. From 1 February 2026, ticket prices on these routes will rise by 15%.

The company explained that the decision is driven by higher costs for technical maintenance and spare parts for high-speed trains, rising electricity and operating expenses, and the need to ensure full traffic safety while maintaining service standards in line with international requirements. Additional factors include ongoing infrastructure upgrades and modernization, as well as the provision of high-quality passenger services.

Following the fare increase, the cost of travel on the Tashkent–Bukhara route on Afrosiyob trains will amount to 1,138,000 soums in VIP class, 760,000 soums in business class, and 509,000 soums in economy class. On the Tashkent–Karshi route, ticket prices will reach 976,000 soums for VIP class, 642,000 soums for business class, and 429,000 soums for economy class. For the Tashkent–Samarkand route, passengers will pay 709,000 soums for VIP class, 455,000 soums for business class, and 311,000 soums for economy class.

At the same time, ticket prices for other passenger trains, including Shark, Nasaf, and Uzbekistan, have also been increased by 15%.

Uzbekistan Railways noted that the tariff adjustment is part of ongoing sector reforms. Under a presidential decree dated 10 October 2023 (No. PP-329), Uzbekistan abandoned state regulation of passenger fares on high-speed and express trains from 1 January 2024. Pricing in this segment has been shifted to market-based principles, allowing fares to change flexibly in line with economic conditions and the carrier’s cost structure.
